Eolus; Nebulae tenebrosae (gloomy fogs); Sol inocciduus (never setting sun); fert ubi perpetuas obtutu nives (where he endures in the contemplation of perpetual snows); nix aestivalis (summer snow); hyems (winter); tu sic fata ferebant (thus they are driven by fate); frustra petebas (you have been assailed without effect); per nemus ignotum non certis passibus errans (wandering through an unknown wood with uncertain steps); quorumq[ue] auspicio nihil nisi mortis imago (wherever I look I see the image of Death); si tibi magna riduntur ex illis scopulis ubi erant affixa per Flora (though they seem lofty to you, from these crags everywhere Flora's additions are to be found).
