Description:
Two lists of genera and of Indian names, from Rheede Tot Draakestein van, H A (1678). "Hortus Indicus Malabaricus". Amsterdam.
- List of the genera arranged according to the sexual system. No specific epithet. The numbers refer to page numbers of that work.
- Table listing the Indian indigeneous names with their corresponding Linnaean names (genus name only). The first column of numbers refers to the volume of Rheede's work, the second column refers to the page numbers. Total of 797 genera.
Small number 780 at the bottom of page 1 in Linnaeus's hand. Similar numbers can be found in LM/LP/BOT/1/, 'Flora Parisiensis'.
The document can be dated to around December 1771. See Carl Linnaeus to to Abraham Bäck, 4 December 1771, The Linnaean correspondence, linnaeus.c18.net, letter L4592, where Linnaeus writes that he thinks that he can make a Flora Malabarica by extracting from Species plantarum those which are known from that region and giving his trivial name.
