This, along with volumes IV and VII, are bound notebooks, later rebound; dated 1731-1733. They were most probably the manuscripts Linnaeus brought with him to Holland.
Volume VIII is in fact an early version of Species plantarum.
A few pages were filled in by Linnaeus filius, so at a later date.
The contents are very similar to volume VII, but with long stretches of blank pages (pp. 225-245, pp. 246-274) and a few interspersed notes on other topics (e.g. on coffee plantations, p. 79). Towards the end (p. 334 ff.) descriptions of a few genera.
The same contractions to designate botanical gardens catalogues are used as were described at the beginning of volume VII. The author's name is indicated on each record, in the persons field, rather than the title of the catalogue:
