Assortment of various notes, descriptions and diagnoses of animals. Contains:
1. 4 ff. (folded sheet), octavo, Latin, with pencil notes regarding "Simia", and two pencil drawings. Reference to 'Penn: Zoo 3 p. 206' referring to the Horned Monkey although this species figures in Pennant, T. 1771. "Synopsis of Quadrupeds". London, p. 129.
2. 4 ff. (folded sheet), octavo, Latin, with pencil notes on hands of primates, along with three pencil drawings of hands.
3. 5 ff., loose octavo, Swedish, with annotations on 'Primates' and 'Mammalia'.
4. 2 ff., octavo, Swedish, notes in ink beginning 'det ar ej möjligt att' and with notes on 'vegetabilia', 'Animalia composita', "Homo sapiens". Notes in pencil on double leaf.
5. 12 paper slips, of the same dimension of Linnaeus fil.'s other paper slips (16x10cm; see LM/LF/BOT/3/9 and LM/LF/ZOO/3/6). They describe species of the genera "Psittacus", "Paradisea", marine mammals, "Caryota", amphipods, "Gymnotus", "Cymbium", 'spiny lobster'. One slip mentions John Hunter (1728-1793), whose museum Linnaeus fil.'s may have visited during his London stay. These slips probably date to the England trip (1781-1782).
6. 2 ff. (folded sheet), octavo, Swedish, on "Phoca lonina", referring to 'Act. Berl. IV'.
7. 2 ff., octavo, Latin, beginning 'Leucoxylon', with descriptions of "Brasypus" in pencil, and "Talpa indica", "Didelphis", "Squalus vittatus" and "Erinaceus" in ink.
8. 4 ff. (folded sheet), octavo, Latin and English, with Arvid H. Uggla's note 'Zoologica' on the front. Pencil notes on primates, dating from Linnaeus fil.'s foreign travels, referring to 'Smeathm:' (Henry Smeathman (1742-1786)) and 'mus. Ledei.' probably referring to Jean-Nicolas-Sébastien Allemand's (1713 or 1716-1787) museum at the University of Leyden.
9. 6 ff (folded sheet), octavo, Latin, with description of "Mus sagitta [Pallas 1773] et Jaculas" (Linn. 1766).
10. 4 ff (folded sheet), octavo, Latin, with description of "Bubalus" in ink and 'Gold-Coats ourang-outang' in pencil.
11. 4 ff (folded sheet), octavo, Latin, pencil and ink notes on "Simia" and pencil drawing of a dolphin (?).
12. 1 fol., ripped sheet, octavo, Latin. Table of species of "Viverra" with their corresponding description of different characters (tail and tongue). On the reverse: evidence of dried plant specimen.
13. 1 fol., folded folio sheet, with descriptions of "Myrmecophaga", "M.[ustela?] barbara" and "Lutra vulgaris?". "Lustra vulgaris" Erxleben, 1777. So post 1777.
14. 2 ff., quarto, Swedish and Latin, entitled 'Bastes', and with descriptions of "Gammarus", "Cancer" and "Raja". "Cancer ruricolus" and "Cancer squilla" Linnaeus 1758. Reference to 'de Piscium auditu', probably Klein, J. T. 1746. "Mantissa ichtyologica de sono et auditu piscium". Leipzig.
15. 1 fol., octavo, Latin, pencil notes on "Testudo", "Dasypus", "Didelphis philander" Linnaeus 1758. On reverse, pencil notes in English on "Oriolus mexicanus" Linnaeus 1766, with reference to 'Errata Mantissae 2ta', presumably Linné, C. Von. 1771. "Mantissa plantarum altera". Stockholm. Possibly dates from Linnaeus fil.'s England stay in 1781-1782.
16. 1 fol., quarto, Latin and Swedish, descriptions of "Asterias" and "Echinus".
17. 2 ff., quarto, pencil drawing of fish without the tail on 1st folio; on the inside page, 7 drawings of different fish tails and one drawing of fish scales.
18. 1 fol., quarto, Latin, beginning 'Animalia singula...'
19. 2 ff, folio, Swedish, beginning 'höpe puppa på sig och skinnet af larven', on insects.
20. 1 fol., quarto, original paper used by Linnaeus fil., reused by Arvid H. Uggla as folder ('Linnaeus jun. Zoologica. Descriptions of animals') to hold the preceding items.
