Description:
Diagnoses of plants, as published in two dissertations:
- fol 1r: "Plantae rariores africanae", defended on {22} December 1760 by Jacob Printz (1740-1779): description of "Carlina" and five of its species. The text has been crossed out, indicating that it has been copied elsewhere, or published.
"Plantae rariores africanae" describes 100 South African plants, based on a collection sent from the Cape of Good Hope. Also includes a list of African plants, intended as a supplement to the dissertation defended by Carl Henriksson Wänman, Flora Capensis.
- fol 1v: "Planta Alströmeria", defended on 23 June 1762 by Johan Peter Falck (1733-1774): description of "Agropis" and "Ahlströmia". This was later slightly changed.
"Planta Alströmeria" describes the Chilean plant, "Alstroemeria ligtu" L., the seeds of which Linnaeus received from Claes Alströmer, who sent it from Cadiz, Spain.
