Description:
Draft of a memorial about Linnaeus's merits, and particularly his invention of inculcating mussels to create pearls artificially.
In early 1762, Linnaeus was worrying about the outcome of the Parliament's decision regarding his reward for pearls, and Linnaeus's wish that his son should succeed him. Two letters to Carl Frederik Mennander express this worry, on 19 January and 29 January 1762. In the latter, Linnaeus states that he is sending a 'curriculum vitae' that Mennander might present to Parliament in Linnaeus's support.
The memorial is written as if Mennander himself has written it, and outlines Linnaeus's achievements throughout his career, beginning and finishing with his discovery of creating pearls artificially.
