Description:
Part of the press manuscript for the catalogue of King Adolph Frederik's museum, published as "Museum Adolphi Friderici Regis" in 1754.
Written by two amanuenses (?), with additions by Linnaeus. The 'Contenta' at the beginning (pp. 1-4) is in Linnaeus's handwriting.
One of the amanuensis's handwriting seems to be the same one who copied 'Insecta exotica' (LM/LP/MUS/1/2).
The manuscript, like the published work, is in parallel text. Pagination reflects this for some of the sections, with same page numbers for Latin and Swedish texts. Not all translations are extent.
The address to the printer is to be found on p. 24 (quadrupeds), along with Linnaeus's seal.
Printer's marks and signs on many pages.
Includes:
- Contents (4 ff, foliated 1-4)
- Class I. Quadrupeds (14 ff, paginated 8-32 consecutively regardless of Latin and Swedish texts).
- Class II. Birds (6ff, comprising: an unpaginated double folio which is an insert to the title pages (see Linnaeus's 'NB' on the double folio and on the title page for Classis ii. Aves); paginated 7-11).
- Class III. Amphibians (26 ff; paginated 1-19, with duplicate page numbers for Latin and Swedish texts, plus 3 double folios of duplicate Swedish text).
