Description:
Draft of a letter from Carl Linnaeus fil. to Petter Jonas Bergius (1730-1790), Professor of natural history and pharmacy at Collegium Medicum, Stockholm. Undated.
Starts 'Högädle Herr Professor, förtrognaste Vän'.
Linnaeus fil. writes of various people including Adam Kuhn (1741-1817) who has gone to London; Johan Zoëga (1742-1788) and Johan Christian Fabricius (1745-1808) are both in Copenhangen; Peter Hernquist (1726-1808) is still in Lyon; Baron Tauk (?) is now on his own in Montpellier; Rothman (Göran (Georg) Rothman, 1739-1778) is still here (i.e. in Uppsala); Elmgren (licentiate in medicine) is in Stockholm; Alströmer (Clas Alströmer, 1736-1794) has returned.
He is having some problems over printing; he has quarrelled with Salvius (probably Lars Salvius, 1706-1773, printer, bookseller, publisher). He has had offers of printing from Holland and from Leipsig.
Solander remains in London and will neither explain nor does he wish to hear of any overlap with his thesis.
Bergius's father is said to be one of the leading members of the Academ of Science so could Bergius recommend Linnaeus fil. to him.
Linnaeus fil. is still unmarried, it is not so easy to find a girl who has money, is beautiful and amiable.
